Evaluation of the EP characteristics of lubricants.
Brief description of the method
In this apparatus, a steel shaft rotates at 200 r.p.m. between two half-bearings squeezed together by a lever. At constant r.p.m., the load is increased hydraulically in stages until the seizure load (steel shaft breaks) or the maximum load that can be obtained on the machine is reached. The steel shaft and the half-bearings are located in a metal box partially filled with the lubricant.
