Salt spray cabinet

Salt spray test for oily, waxy and solvent-based anti-corrosion agents:

Purpose

The generally slow course of atmospheric corrosion does not, in many cases, allow a quick reply to questions concerning appropriate selection of different anti-corrosion  measures of their quality. For this reason, accelerated methods are used, such as salt spray tests, so that technically valid statements on corrosion can be made after short test periods. Salt spray tests in the sense of this method are tests with a continuously sprayed, aqueous 5% sodium chloride solution as the corrosive agent.

Brief description of the method

The test apparatus essentially consists of a heatable test or spray cabinet with pressure compensation and the necessary measuring control systems required to set and maintain a test temperature of 35 + 2 °C. Also needed are a container for the sodium chloride solution, a supply of clean, oil-free, pre-heated (70°C at nozzle outlet) and water vapor-enriched compressed air and several self-priming spray nozzles with a control device for the liquid throughout for setting the amount of test solution to be sprayed.
