There are various resins in the rubber industry with very different applications. Rhein Chemie has come to specialize in the reinforcing resins Rhenosin® A (phenol formaldehyde resin with a hardener (hexamethylene tetramine)) and Rhenosin® RB (phenol formaldehyde resin without this hardener).
The “reinforcing” effect of these two products corresponds to that of additional filler, i.e. they have a particular effect on Shore hardness and moduli. These two grades of Rhenosin® are used in hard to very hard compounds where adding more filler would create processing problems. Typical applications include compounds for floor coverings, brake linings, oil-resistant seals, heels and soles of shoes, hard hose materials, and typewriter/paper platen rollers.
