Vickers vane pump test rig

Purpose

The procedure detailed in this standard is used to determine the anti-wear properties of hydraulic fluids in a vane-cell pump.

Outline of method

The hydraulic fluid to be tested is circulated in a test rig by means of a vane-cell pump, at a specific temperature and specific pressure. After the test run, wear on the ring and vanes of the pump are measured.

Brief description of the method for mineral oil hydraulic fluids

Approximately 70 ltrs of the hydraulic fluids to be tested are circulated in a test rig by means of a vane-cell pump, delivery rate (25 + 3) ltrs/min, speed (1440 + 30) r.p.m., at 140 bar for 250 hours. The fluid temperature at the pump inlet is selected to ensure that a kinematic viscosity of 13 mm2/s is ensured in operation. On the wear parts, the mass loss is measured.
